The truth is that it’s hard to find a reliable online poker site in Alberta. Which is why I’ve put together some of the best options so that you can get started on the virtual felt quickly. Each one of these sites is reputable, has lots of player traffic, and excellent software for multi tabling.
Quick Answer: Ozoon Poker, BetOnline, and ACR Poker are three real-money poker sites worth comparing for Alberta players
Best Poker Sites in Alberta Compared
| Poker Room | Best Known For | Alberta Status |
|---|---|---|
| Ozoon Poker | Anonymous tables, recreational poker | Yes |
| BetOnline Poker | Cash games, tournaments | Yes |
| ACR Poker | Large tournaments, rakeback | Yes |
Ozoon Poker
I’m ranking Ozoon at the top of my list because it checks all the boxes for a great poker site. On the surface it appears as if this is a new brand that just launched, but that’s not the case at all. Ozoon transitioned over from Bodog which had been operating for over 20 years in Alberta. It was basically just a rebrand.
The software for playing on Ozoon is very smooth whether you are using desktop or mobile. Player traffic is well over 10,000 plus players at peak times, and Ozoon also provides fast withdrawal option via cryptocurrency which can hit your account in 10 minutes or less. There are also a lot of recreational players on this site which make it a great option for easier games if you enjoy playing low to mid stakes. I could go on about them, but you will just have to trust this is one of the best poker sites to use in Alberta.
BetOnline Poker
BetOnline is open to most parts of the world and is another trustworthy brand that launched in the early 2000’s. I created my account here in 2011 and have used them ever since. The software is a lot of fun because you can create custom avatars, change the color of tables, card decks, and I’m sort of just scratching the surface.
Player traffic is a little bit less than Ozoon but once again this site is filled with so many recreational players it makes it worth checking out. BetOnline also has fast withdrawal options via crypto and a wide selection of tournaments to play throughout the month.
ACR Poker
I’m ranking ACR Poker last because this is also a solid site in terms of software, player traffic, and fast withdrawals. The biggest issue I have is that the competition for playing on ACR is going to be a lot harder than my first two options. However, this is by far the best site to use in Alberta for online poker tournaments. I would argue that no one else comes close.
ACR has been known for some of the largest online tournaments that reach in the mid to high tier millions in guaranteed prizes. I tend to use them every so often just for this reason but a lot less when it comes to cash games because you will find a lot more regulars sitting at these tables. Still, this is a site worth checking out if you enjoy the challenge of trying to make a final table with the chance at a massive payout.
Is Online Poker Legal in Alberta?
Yes, online poker is legal in Alberta, but there are some important things players should understand before choosing a poker site. Alberta officially launched its regulated online gambling market on July 13, 2026, allowing approved private operators to offer real-money games, including online poker.
Offshore poker rooms such as Ozoon Poker, BetOnline, and ACR Poker are also familiar names among Canadian poker players. However, being accessible online doesn’t automatically mean a site is authorized to operate in Alberta. Their current provincial authorization and player eligibility should be verified before registering.
For Alberta players, the safest approach is to check an operator’s licensing status, available games, withdrawal policies, and player protections before depositing real money.
Can You Play Online Poker in Alberta on Mobile?
Yes, you can play real-money online poker in Alberta on your iPhone or Android smartphone. Several poker platforms offer mobile-friendly software, making it possible to enjoy cash games and tournaments without sitting at a computer. Ozoon Poker, BetOnline, and ACR Poker all offer mobile poker options, although their availability to Alberta residents and provincial authorization haven’t been confirmed.
Ozoon Poker offers a mobile-friendly poker experience with Texas Hold’em and Omaha games. Players can access supported games through compatible mobile devices.
BetOnline Poker supports mobile poker through its website, allowing players to access cash games and tournaments without downloading desktop software.
ACR Poker also provides mobile poker functionality, although certain games and features may be limited compared to its desktop platform.
For Alberta residents, mobile poker is a convenient option, whether playing at home or while traveling within the province. Just make sure your chosen platform is authorized to serve Alberta players before registering or depositing real money. And I can confirm each one of these will work for you in Alberta.
Final Thoughts
I’ve tested each one of these sites long enough to know they are some of the best options as a poker player living in Alberta. It might seem like your options are somewhat limited but each one of these sites is worth using for different reasons. I do believe Ozoon is the best overall option currently, but there are plenty of reasons to give BetOnline and ACR a try as well.
My advice would be to use one of these sites for at least a few months to see if you enjoy the vibe of what they have to offer. The biggest things to look out for are player traffic, software, and reliable payouts. Each one has all three with Ozoon being the strongest overall option to use currently.
